One of the biggest threats to heart disease is high cholesterol



. If you want to keep your heart healthier and lower your risk for a heart attack the best thing to do is maintain healthy cholesterol levels. Some people have high cholesterol regardless of what they eat and those people have to be even more diligent about maintaining a healthy cholesterol .level. Those people usually have to follow a very strict diet and take medicine. But for the rest of us a healthy diet will usually do the trick to keep our cholesterol levels safe. It has been found that many foods can help improve your life while at the same time they are lowering your cholesterol levels.

Numerous studies have been done and they have shown that there is a definite correlation between eating fish and nuts and lower cholesterol levels. This excellent because if you can lower the amount of bad cholesterol in your body, it will prevent your arteries from getting clogged and causing a heart attack.

Our society has become a culture that eats way too many fried and greasy foods. If you continue to eat those kinds of foods over a long period of time you could be putting your body at risk for a heart attack.

Fast food in the United States is everywhere. It is difficult not to find yourself eating that kind of food way too often. But the good news is even most fast food restaurants are now offering healthy choices. If cutting out fried greasy food sounds like an impossible feat for you, you may want to start slow by substituting a few meals a week with a healthy meal. Soon your body will start feeling better because of the healthy meals and you may want to increase the number of heart healthy meals you eat. Your goal should be that sooner than later you will be eating more healthy meals and less fatty greasy meals. This will hopefully prevent you from having a heart attack due to high cholesterol.

So if you want to stay healthy and prevent having a heart attack eat more foods that are lower and fats and grease and increase the amount of fish and nuts you eat. If you follow these few rules hopefully your risk of heart attack will go down.
